Comments on Class II Classification Standards

National Indian Gaming Commission,
As
a resident of
Deming,
NM, I not only didn’t know that there was tribal land close to Deming,
but also that there could be a tribal casino being thrust upon us. The
Ft. Sill Apache tribe’s plan to build a casino so close to our town is a
real threat to our community. We would like the whole thing to be go
away, but at least we would like to try to keep them from bringing slot
machines into our community.
It
is our understanding that under present law the tribe can use Class II
“Bingo” gambling machines that look, sound, and behave like regular
video slot machines. However, we hear that your agency is proposing
regulations that would prevent tribes that don’t have gambling compacts
with a state from having gambling machines that mimic Class III slot
machines.
Since
you are still taking comments on these regulations, I would like to
encourage you to stick with the proposed regulations and prevent the Ft.
Sill Apaches from inflicting slot machine gambling upon our community.
Sincerely,
|
